UPDATE 6/3/09
The pieced top has now been "sandwiched" together with the batting and flannel backing, and mostly quilted together. I started by stitching "in the ditch" around each square and around the outer border. I also finished the celtic braid quilting in the border. Here you see one corner square, and the border.

Border & Binding
Here is another shot of the border with the Celtic braid, and the binding along the edge. The corner is folded over so you can also see a little of the back.

Quilting in the Squares
After the functional quilting was all finished, I went back in to do some additional decorative stitching in each square. I used an outline stitch around the images printed on the t-shirts to help secure them and give them depth.

The Dragon
On those squares where the printed T-shirt image doesn't quite take up the whole square, I wanted to add some extra quilting in the blank spaces, to add strength to the finished product. Here is a dragon I stitched in the empty white space at the bottom of one square.
