Some examples of quilt projects I've worked on in the past...
Traditional Quilts Interested in a traditional pieced quilt, but require a rare size? Or do you have a specific color palette in mind that you just can't find in stores? Check out the Split Rail Fence quilt I made to match my living room colors. Of course you're not limited to this one design, this is just an example. Just about any traditional quilt block you like - Log Cabin, Around the World, and Flying Geese are just a few possibilities. You pick the design and colors, I do the work!
Name Quilts A great gift for a child or a new baby, these quilted wall-hangings are as custom as it gets! The child's own name is appliqued using fabrics that reflect their interests, favorite colors, or nursery theme. Click here to see several examples. The kids for whom I have made these in the past really seem to appreciate having something that is so clearly their very own; as one 6-year-old boy exclaimed on Christmas morning, "It's got my name sewed on it!!!"
Company Logo I made a quilted wall hanging including the Harley-Davidson Motor Cycles logo as a gift for a pre-teen boy. In working on that project, it occurred to me that ANY company logo1 can be made into a work of art, and would be a great promotional item.
Memory Quilts Do you or someone you love have a collection of T-shirts that are not worn much anymore, but are just too precious to throw away? Let me make them into a keepsake that is worthy of all those great memories, like the one that I made for the Saline Celtic Festival. Some popular themes for t-shirt memory quilts include sports, band, scouting, travel, and rock concerts; any collection of T-shirts can be used, even if they are well-worn and a little threadbare. The quilt can even be embellished with patches, awards, ribbons - just about anything fabric can be artfully included. These make great Graduation gifts!
Free-form Art Quilts My very favorite kind of quilt is the free-form art quilt. Nearly any image1 can be made into a quilt, given a little time and patience. For example, check out this interpretation I made of a painting by fantasy artist Amy Brown, and this quilt based on photographs of my artist brother-in-law and his puppets. I even managed to quilt a decent impression of his face; his own mother says it looks just like him! If you have a drawing, painting, or photograph that you would like made into a quilt, give me a call.
