Classes and Supplies
-
The Quilting Season
A specialty quilt shop on the East side of Saline. They offer top quality supplies, classes, and support. This is where I first learned the basics of quilting.
-
Two Twelve Arts Center
Saline's very own arts center! They offer classes on a variety of subjects (including quilting), and feature the works of local artists. The world of Art Quilting was opened to me through a class taken at the center, where I learned the basic free-form applique technique that I used in the FAIRY and HARLEY-DAVIDSON quilts, as well as the kids' name quilts.
Artists who inspire me
-
Kathy Campau
A local fiber artist who taught me, through a class at the Two Twelve Arts Center, the free-form applique technique that I now use in my own art quilts.
-
Jason Ahlquist
Jason is a friend and artist with a unique line drawing technique that really applies well to quilting. I find his drawings to be extremely inspiring when I'm trying to come up with non-traditional quilting patterns.
Books
-
Quilting by Improvisation
Brilliant book on freestyle quilting, with great tips on alternative border, binding, and finishing methods.
Artists I know who do custom work (Not quilt-related, but worth checking out!)
